Life According to Bo
My roommate Ryan has a boxer that makes a nice addition to our house. His name is BoJangles, or Bo for short.
It's funny how God uses little things to teach us big things. In lieu of yesterdays all-night-guy-a-thon at the house, I spent a bulk of my time at home with Bo. I was watching him as he reacted to food that I was eating. He is an excellent beggar. I realized something. Anything I give Bo is better than his current situation. Piece of chicken vs. dog bone, or, roast beef vs. pedigree. It's really a no brainer.
However,Bo's ability to reason is not excellent. He is content with what he has in his mouth. If I give Bo a cheap hot dog, and then hold up a steak - he will continue to eat his hot dog, even though I promise the steak is better. He will, no doubt, get around to the steak - but on his time, after he finished what is currently in his mouth.
Aren't we the same? Think about it. Think of what God has in store for us, yet sometimes we are so preoccupied with what we are currently doing we can't see it. We hold onto our bare rib bone instead of embracing the glorious meal He has for us. It's so easy for us to just get along with what tastes comfortable, not what is best. We even deceive ourselves and think what we have in our mouths is best. I can see Bo thinking to himself, "Man, it doesn't get better than this hot dog".
Yes it does Bo, I promise.
Lord, may you continually bring me nourishment and food, as well as treats and blessings, and if I do not move onto what is best, rip it out of my mouth! Even if you take my teeth with it! I trust you in that balance.
